“As long as the sun still shines and people can still plant, we can find ways to provide for ourselves without diminishing the world.”

— Michael Pollan

Why Rhubarb?

Buying food has never been more convenient.

Pop down to your local supermarket and you can find products shipped and flown in from all over the globe. Apples and oranges and avocados and papayas and celery and broccoli and everything in between.

But that’s the problem. We are losing touch with where our food comes from, and from it’s true value.

Just a couple of short generations ago, food was something we cultivated and shared. We should get back to that.

Rhubarb is an online platform that makes it easy for people to trade their home-grown produce with others in their community; for local businesses to sell food and produce to people who care; and to connect local food banks and pantries to a network of local suppliers so that they can source and distribute local, seasonal food to those who need it.

Why Rhubarb? Because it just grows. And once it takes root, you can’t stop it.
